We promise to keep it short and sweet, because, let’s face it; you’re already weighing up if one more thing in your inbox is really worth it. We’ll be sharing what we’ve been writing about this week, and what’s caught our eye in the business world and beyond. We hope you’ll find our contribution helpful, both as business leaders and as humans.
Oktorise Weekly is an ode to exhaling
When I started meditating, it wasn’t until I learnt to fully exhale that I could inhale properly. I remember that as a breakthrough moment.
Our heart rate speeds up when we inhale, and slows when we exhale. Exhaling gets rid of toxic carbon dioxide and makes space for our next breath of (hopefully!) clean air.
In a work context, where you strive for more, for growth, for faster; this is breathing in. But we all need to make time to let go and breathe out. To reflect, recalibrate, to enjoy our work and its fruits. Then to breathe in from a more informed and solid base. So, exhale with intention, because if you exhale thoroughly, you’ll inhale better.
What we’ve been writing about
We meet lots of business owners who, even though they suspect digital marketing would help their businesses grow, haven’t yet taken the plunge. Or if they have, they’ve done it half-heartedly. More of a ‘up to the knees then quickly back to shore’ sort of thing. There’s plenty of reasons for this, but mostly they’re wary of it. Digital marketing can seem obscure and manipulative. And if it’s just tactical and devoid of depth, there’s a truth to that. But, like most products (think alcohol) or services, digital marketing isn’t the problem, it only becomes one if used in a problematic way. Proper digital marketing really gives businesses a leg-up. So this week we’ve written an article that will give business leaders who are reticent, an understanding of digital marketing’s key concepts. If this feels like you, we hope this helps. Read here
